All History Guide: Your guide to history on the Internet..

" .. this unusual, and yes, excellent history book.."

"More books like this one introducing historical study in a sympathetic was are needed.."

Now in paperback

... and into its 3rd reprint!

A small sample of the x-rays.

This is still thought to be an arrowhead of a style made in the Norse lands. At one stage we though this was part of a small knife dated from the late Saxon period.

These all come from a close context that has yielded over 20 billet-shaped pieces of iron.

This is one of only 4 items so far conserved and fits the morphology for an arrowhead of Scandinavian origin.

*The latest sorting in Feb 07 has identified several more metal working tools from the same context*
